Accidentally Deleted Home Directory in OS X

In Mac OS X there is a multi-user environment which facilitates the Mac user to make an individual Home Directory. Each time a user is added to the system, Mac OS X assigns a file system area to which the particular user has read-write access and a folder is added, termed as Home Directory. The folder is named after user name and helps individually keeping a user’s preferences and documents.

All the Home Directories are stored in Users Folders. We need to log in to the system as Admin user, open the application and type sudo rm -rf /Users/shortname\\ deleted, where ‘shortname’ is the name of former user, press Return, type Admin user password and press Return.

In Mac OS X 10.2 an later ,the folder lies as the compressed image file, with .img as file extension in /Users/Deleted Users/. So the administrator can either preserve the information for future use or drag it to Trash to delete.
