Trash is locked Can't Delete Files

Trash is allocated at the right-hand end of the Dock, where all the files deleted from Finder go to. It is the system folder which offers a way to retrieve the deleted files as Trash The deleted file is kept there until you empty Trash or restore the file. You can empty the trash in three possible ways: you can click and hold on the trash icon and select ‘Empty Trash’ from the appeared menu,

You can also choose the same option from anywhere in the Finder from menu bar or using the keyboard shortcut command-shift-backspace. You need to ensure that the contents of Trash are not usable, before emptying it or else Mac data recovery will be required. However, in few of the cases, doing so may not give the expected results.

Mac OS X supports permission settings for each file and folder, which help defining the operations allowed. The folders, for which no write permission is there, end up in Trash and you can’t delete them or their contents. To cure this issue, you can use rm-rf command, but always handle the process carefully as its incorrect use may cause data loss and raise Mac recovery requirements.

For running the command, you need to open Terminal applicatopn, type ‘sudo rm –rf’, open the Trash, open Edit menu and choose Select All, drag all these items to Terminal window and press return. Alternatively, you can also use ‘sudo rm -rf ~/.Trash/’ command.

The above solution will not work if the files are locked, so you need to unlock them first. You can also delete the locked files directly by pressing Shift-Option or Option key combination while attempting to empty the Trash. If you lose data, because of the incorrect use of rm-rf command or accidentally deleting the important files while emptying the Trash, Mac File Recovery utilities can help.

Mac data recovery utilities are the special recovery software which can scan and recover lost data through the definite algorithms. Mac recovery applications are safe, effective and complete in fetching results. Macintosh Data Recovery uses the most powerful scanning algorithms to locate the lost data and them recovers them safely.

This data recovery Mac software is compatible with HFS, HFS+, HFS X and HFS Wrapper files system and is equipped with graphically rich user interface, hence offering you easy Mac recovery options.
